Animation Parties (for ages 7 to 14) reserve exclusive use of the Media Lab and a birthday party room. For more information on the Animation Party see the Party Project section. Exclusive parties are held when the museum is closed and provides exclusive use of the museum’s gallery and studios. Exclusive parties can pick from any of the party project options. WEE Arts Extravaganza (ages 1-3)
30 minutes free time for guests to explore hands on stations in the private party room and our Wee Arts studio, followed by 20 minutes of a guided group workshop designed especially for the birthday party guests and led by our teaching artists. Please review the list below and check ONE art project of your choice. The project is followed by 30 minutes for food and cake. The party concludes with a 10-minute Birthday Bounce, where the birthday guests have exclusive use of CMA’s Ball Pond!
Jackson Pollock: Dress for a mess. Children will try their hand at Pollock’s action-style painting to create a collaborative mural.
Animal Masks: Children will decorate hand-cut masks shaped like their favorite animals! Children will use a colorful variety of drawing and collage materials.
Wacky Hats: Children will wear their art home after decorating and adding detail to hand cut sculpture-hats! Children will use a colorful variety of drawing and collage materials.

Imagination Celebration (ages 4-6)
The first 30 minutes of the party is free time in the museum. Move into the party room for the second 30 minutes, for your private art project, led by our teaching artists. Ceramic Clay Sculpture: Children use found objects, beads, tempera paint, and self-drying clay to create a sculpture. Choose a theme, or make up your own!
The Art of Mask-making: Design your own hand-made mask! Choose from a theme or make up your own!
Costuming: Children use new and recycled materials to create colorful and eccentric costume pieces. The finale of the project is a parade around the museum! Choose from a theme or make up your own!
Collaborative Mural: Children will work together to create a collaborative, funky, graffiti inspired mural. Choose from a theme or make up your own!
T-Shirt Art: Dress for a mess. Children use permanent acrylic paint to decorate a t-shirt. Hosts must provide shirts.

Paper Works: Discover how to make beautiful, interesting art with a material that is constantly at your fingertips!
Ceramic Clay Sculpture: Party guests will learn clay-sculpting techniques with self-drying clay to create their sculptures. These works of art will be decorated with found objects, beads, and paint. Choose a theme, or make up your own!
Tie Dye Designs: Learn different techniques to create a uniquely designed tie dye t-shirt. Host must provide shirts.
Printmaking: Learn how to create a print plate and transfer the design onto a totebag.
Collaborative Mural: Children will work together to create a collaborative, funky, graffiti inspired mural. Choose from a theme or make up your own!
Puppet Theater: Design a puppet, and work with friends to build a simple puppet theater to showcase your creation!

F.A.B. : Fabulous Animation Birthday (ages 7-14)
By combining our ever-popular animation classes with our art-filled birthday parties, CMA has created an innovative new way to celebrate! Guests learn the basics of animation and collaborate on a short animated movie. Includes exclusive use of the CMA media lab and a private party room. This party is led by 4 teaching artists.
During the first 15 minutes, guests will sculpt clay creatures that will be used in animation. During the next hour, guests will receive a short animation lesson, and will be divided into groups to explore claymation and pixilation. The next 30 minutes is time for food and cake. The last 15 minutes is reserved for the world premier of the birthday movie!
