Have a fun and festive art-filled celebration with your child and friends! The party begins with free time to explore the Museum’s interactive projects. Our experienced teaching artists then lead the children in a workshop of your choice. End on a sweet note with food and cake! Each group visit is staffed with two teaching artists. We ask that you please bring 1 chaperone for every 8 students.

$550, up to 15 children This package comes with a private party room, 2 Teaching Artists to lead the art workshop and help the host with food, and all-day admission to CMA for party guests and their chaperones. Party hosts must provide any food, beverage, paper goods, and gift bags.

Animation Parties (for ages 7 to 14) reserve exclusive use of the Media Lab and a birthday party room. For more information on the Animation Party see the Party Project section. Exclusive parties are held when the museum is closed and provides exclusive use of the museum’s gallery and studios. Exclusive parties can pick from any of the party project options. Choose from basic or fully catered, which includes juice boxes, coffee, water, a personalized birthday cake, fresh fruit and veggies, paper goods, invitations, Little Artist Gift Bags, and pizza.

Fridays: 4 – 5:30pm
Saturdays: 10 – 11:30am, 12:30 – 2pm, or 4 – 5:30pm
Sundays: 10 – 11:30am, 12:30 – 2pm, or 4 – 5:30pm
Parties from 12:30-2 and 4-5:30 can be extended 30 minutes for only $100!
Morning parties cannot be extended.

STEP 3: Pick Your Party Project
WEE Arts Extravaganza (ages 1-3)
30 minutes free time for guests to explore hands on stations in the private party room and our Wee Arts studio, followed by 20 minutes of a guided group workshop designed especially for the birthday party guests and led by our teaching artists. Please review the list below and check ONE art project of your choice. The project is followed by 30 minutes for food and cake. The party concludes with a 10-minute Birthday Bounce, where the birthday guests have exclusive use of CMA’s Ball Pond!
Jackson Pollock: Dress for a mess. Children will try their hand at Pollock’s action-style painting to create a collaborative mural.
Collage Based Projects: Children will use different materials and textures to make their own creation. Choose from: Animal Masks, Wacky Hats, or Crowns
Color Mixing: Children will experiment with color mixing by adding watercolor to shaving cream.
Custom Projects! Let our artists help you customize a project to fit with the theme of your party or your child’s favorite thing.
Imagination Celebration (ages 4-6)
The first 30 minutes of the party is free time in the museum. Move into the party room for the second 30 minutes, for your private art project, led by our teaching artists. (Please review the list below for project suggestions.) The last 30 minutes is time for food and cake! For your party’s project, choose from:
Ceramic Clay Sculpture: Use found objects, beads, tempera paint, and self-drying clay to create a sculpture.
Pablo Picasso: Picasso’s cubist style inspires kids to make a mask out of colored paper and oil pastels.
Costuming: Use recycled materials to create colorful and eccentric costume pieces. The finale of the project is a parade around the museum!
Graffiti Mural: Use spray bottles and blown ink techniques to create a collaborative, funky, graffiti inspired mural.
T-Shirt Art: Use permanent acrylic paint to decorate a t-shirt. Dress for a mess. Hosts provide shirts.

We Put the ART in Party (ages 7-12)
The first 30 minutes of the party is free time in the museum. Move into the party room for the second 30 minutes, for your private art project, led by our teaching artists. Paper Works: Learn to create paper sculptures using origami techniques.
Ceramic Clay Sculpture: Learn clay-sculpting techniques with self-drying. These works of art will be decorated with found objects, beads, and paint.
Tie Dye Designs: Learn different techniques to create a uniquely designed tie dye t-shirt. Host must provide shirts.
Printmaking: Learn how to create a print plate and transfer the design onto a tote bag.
Frida Kahlo: Inspired by the self-portraits of Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, create your own portrait paying attention to costume and setting.

F.A.B. : Fabulous Animation Birthday (ages 7-14)
By combining our ever-popular animation classes with our art-filled birthday parties, CMA has created an innovative new way to celebrate! Guests learn the basics of animation and collaborate on a short animated movie. Includes exclusive use of the CMA media lab and a private party room. This party is led by 4 teaching artists.
During the first 15 minutes, guests will sculpt clay creatures that will be used in animation. During the next hour, guests will receive a short animation lesson, and will be divided into groups to explore claymation and pixilation. The next 30 minutes is time for food and cake. The last 15 minutes is reserved for the world premier of the birthday movie!
