Inspired by the portraits of artist, Lucas Samaras, create self-portraits with chalk and pastel.
Visitors will work closely with CMA Media Lab teaching artists to sculpt plants, animals and beyond. Visitors may choose their subjects and receive detailed guidance or work independently.

Inspired by Mt. Pom Pom, the fantastical world that Misaki’s created at CMA, you will use collage and drawing to create maps of your own imaginary land. Explore the matierals Misaki chose to use and created your own themes, colors, creatures, landscape and more!
Highly creative stop-motion animated films are created by young visitors of CMA every week in the Media Lab. But before this happens, a SET is created. You will have the opportunity to work alongside CMA Media Lab teaching artists to create intricately detailed worlds for upcoming CMA films.

Join performance artist Marie Christine in an artistic exploration of stories about grandmothers. Listen to stories of Marie Christine’s grandmother and then participate in a guided drawing workshop inspired by your own grandparents.
Make sand sculptures like artist, Anish Kapoor’s ‘White Sand, Red Millet, Many flowers” using cardboard, clay, glue and sand.

Entering its fourth year of partnership with Governors Island, CMA’s Free Art Island Outpost programming will run every Saturday and Sunday, from 11-3 PM, inside and surrounding buildings 11 & 14 in Nolan Park.
