Viewing Pipilotti Rist at Hauser & Wirth
CMA Resident Artist Maria D. Rapicavoli visited Pipilotti Rist's exhibition with her after school students from Hudson Guild.

It's not everyday you get to step inside a work of art — such was the case during Hudson Guild's field trip to Pipilotti Rist: Prickling Goosebumps & Humming Horizon and Hauser & Wirth in Chelsea!
Known for her multisensory installations and poignant explorations of internal and external psychological worlds, Rist's exhibition showed students that art doesn't merely exist on gallery walls.
Students became active participants in the artwork as they explored Rist's swirling projections and communal living room. In describing the immersive installation, one student remarked:
"They look like little bugs or stars. Or fries!"
It was exciting to hear students point out observations that we had missed, such as when one student noticed a face in one of the projections.
In one one our favorite moments of the trip, one student reflected:
"I feel like I'm at home."
Maria's work at Hudson Guild is supported by the Emergency Arts Education Fund, which provides free arts education to NYC school communities whose art programs have been decimated by recent budget cuts.
