Children's Museum of the Arts

Miriam Jovanovic (she/her) is an artist and educator from Astoria, Queens. Having attended the Frank Sinatra High School of the Arts, Miriam developed an interest in oil painting, sculptural art, and art therapy. Since then, Miriam has explored other mediums, including jewelry making, 2D and 3D animation, and prop fabrication. She is a proud proponent of public schools, having received a Bachelor's degree in Human Geography from CUNY Hunter College and a Masters of Public Health from CUNY Graduate School of Public Health. Her academic study has reinforced her belief in the importance of artistic expression for a child's self-confidence and healthy development. With over six years of experience teaching youth, including as a substitute teacher, Miriam has worked with children and teens in all five boroughs of NYC. She remains dedicated to bringing artistic activities to young people as a means of expression and creative outlets to promote authentic, healthy living.
