Enjoy cocktails by Agua Magica, Maestro Dobel Tequila, Tabali, and Wandering Barman , delicious bites from Chef Alessandro Pendinelli , and a private viewing of the Dennis Freedman Collection . Brings friends and family and help us raise $50,000 before the new academic calendar year. About The Emergency Arts Education Fund When a child loses access to the arts, it’s an emergency. The Emergency Arts Education Fund was formed in response to continued DOE budget cuts (- $200M in FY23) and the decimation of art classes in local schools. We believe the ongoing insecurity of arts education is a public health and creativity crisis deserving of immediate assistance. That’s why we disburse support on a rolling basis and without a burdensome application. We place artists directly into schools directly. The Emergency Fund is an expansion of CMA’s Accessible Arts program and in-school residencies. For over 15 years, we’ve connected local artists to low-income schools to lead high-quality arts education. CMA provides all necessary art materials and develops a curriculum representative of the rich cultural diversity of the school’s neighborhood and community. This year CMA partnered with over 21+ Title 1 Schools (K-12) across NYC. After our programming, we support schools to navigate the difficult process of arts funding with the goal of building a future with more certain arts inclusion. 5/23/24 Artists in Schools Directional Coloring Dispatches from CMA Resident Artist Noormah Jamal's fifth grade class at Children's Workshop School. Click to expand media gallery. Vincent Van Gogh and Anthony Cudahy served as inspirations for this week’s directional coloring assignment. Students focused on how to achieve movement in the work and experimented with using texture to elevate a landscape. They used markers, pencils, and graphite to create their works based on a common reference shared on screen. We were blown away by their use of color! Noormah’s work at Children’s Workshop School is supported by the Emergency Arts Education Fund , which provides free arts education to NYC school communities whose art programs have been decimated by recent budget cuts. Children’s Museum of the Arts’ three Residents Artists are currently implementing ambitious arts curriculum at each of our partner sites throughout New York City: Hudson Guild in Chelsea, Sid Miller Academy in Crown Heights, and Children’s Workshop School in the East Village. Come spring, our residents will showcase their students' work through exhibitions and installations across the city. Learn how you can support the work of our residents here .
