Curator-For-a-Day Dioramas

Kids became curators and exhibitions designers for the day as they crafted miniature dioramas of museum and gallery spaces during Open Studio at Pier 57.Â
By using cardboard to create both walls and a floor, kids were challenged to think about how to place their artwork replicas within a multidimensional space.Â
They even considered how the architecture of a museum can be artwork onto itself, such as the Guggenheim Museum’s memorable spiral design or the brand new cave-like interior of the Richard Gilder Center for Science at The Museum of Natural History.Â
The results were epic – one artist placed a living sea monster at the center of her museum (you had to pay admission to see it, of course) while another artist created a seriously impressive abstract sculpture garden.
